Most high school seniors look forward to all the fun traditions your senior year brings you. One of them being your senior photos. I personally was SO excited for my senior photos. I had pictures done in the summer and in the spring of the following year before I graduated because I also wanted cap and gown photos.

I wanted to provide some helpful tips and information for upcoming seniors so whether you’re a parent looking to book or a senior who is looking forward for their photos, I hope this helps.

Location

The best time for photos is anytime between May through November. After the leaves fall, I personally think everything looks off and if I’m being honest, it’s not the vibes.

If you are willing to drive up the mountain for some mountain top sessions, then I recommend late July through September.

We may even get lucky with wildflowers! If you are looking to book at a location with dry grass then I recommend June through November.

I actually have a location guide that I send out to my clients after they book a session to review and decide what location they want. There is a traveling fee for anything after 35 miles. To wrap this section up, all I gotta say is take in consideration the time of year and seasons.

What do i wear?

This section could go on and on but I’ll try keep it short and sweet. I think choosing your location first is a good idea because then you can decide what you want to wear. For example let’s say you want photos out in a field. I wouldn’t recommend wearing heels and a tight dress in a field. You’re gonna be uncomfortable and unable to move around. I’m not saying you shouldn’t if that’s what YOU want but I like to do lots of movement in my sessions for candid photography and it won’t be as fun and easy.

Choosing two outfits gives you the option to choose a cute “extra” outfit like a flowy dress or a dress from my client closet and then a much simple outfit such as jeans and a top.

I have so many options to choose from my client closet for seniors to wear. You seriously won’t regret picking at least one dress! They are so fun to play dress up in and I’ll have you moving, laughing and just having a good time.
